What is office signage?

Office signage covers all signs inside a commercial building: reception signs, meeting room signs, door signs, floor directories and directional signs. Good office signage makes it easy for visitors to find their way, and gives the workplace a consistent, professional feel.

In practice, office signage is about more than just information. It is an extension of your company's visual identity. When logo, colours and materials carry through from the reception to the meeting rooms, it builds trust with clients and pride among employees.

Reception signs: the first impression that counts

The reception is the first thing visitors see. A sign with the company logo in 3D creates immediate recognition and signals professionalism. There is a real difference between a logo printed on paper and one that stands out from the wall in acrylic or metal.

Types of reception signs

3D logo in acrylic. Letters and logo milled from acrylic, mounted with standoffs so they float a few centimetres from the wall. Clean, modern look. Works well for offices with light-coloured walls. From NOK 5,000 ex. VAT.

3D logo in metal. Letters in brushed aluminium or stainless steel. Heavier and more premium than acrylic. Holds up well over time with minimal maintenance. From NOK 8,000 ex. VAT.

Backlit logo. LED lighting behind the letters creates a halo effect against the wall. Gives a sleek, modern look that works particularly well in receptions with subdued lighting. From NOK 10,000 ex. VAT.

Large reception installation. A combination of logo, lighting and decorative elements covering an entire wall. Can include background vinyl, coloured acrylic panels or an integrated LED profile. NOK 20,000 to 40,000 ex. VAT, depending on size and complexity.

Freestanding logo. For receptions where the wall behind the counter is not suitable for mounting. The logo is placed on a freestanding panel, in a frame, or integrated into the reception desk. Price varies by solution.

What affects the price?

The size of the logo is the biggest cost driver. A logo 80 cm wide costs considerably less than one covering 2 metres. Material also matters: acrylic is cheaper than metal, and backlighting adds NOK 3,000 to 8,000 depending on scope.

Meeting room signs: practical and professional

Meeting room signs make it easy to find the right room and show whether it is available. In larger offices with many meeting rooms, clear signage is essential to avoid confusion and double bookings.

Nameplates for meeting rooms

The simplest solution is a nameplate by the door. The plate can be aluminium, acrylic or glass, with the room name engraved or vinyl-applied. Simple, durable and affordable. From NOK 500 per sign ex. VAT.

Meeting room signs with screen cutout

Many companies use digital booking systems. We make sign panels with an integrated cutout for a tablet screen showing the room name, next meeting and available/occupied status. The sign panel gives the screen a neat, built-in look, rather than a tablet stuck to the wall with tape.

Materials and prices for meeting room signs

TypeFrom price (ex. VAT)
Simple nameplate (aluminium/acrylic)NOK 500
Nameplate with interchangeable name fieldNOK 800

Premium nameplate (glass/brushed steel)NOK 2,000 - 3,000

Prices are per sign. Volume discounts apply when ordering multiple meeting room signs at the same time.

Door signs and nameplates

Door signs go on office doors, toilets, utility rooms and other doors where information is needed. Simple, functional signs that are often underestimated, but that contribute to the overall impression.

Standard door sign in aluminium. Rectangular plate with engraved or vinyl text. The most common format is 15x5 cm or 20x7 cm. From NOK 500 ex. VAT.

Door sign in acrylic. Clear or coloured acrylic with printed or engraved text. Gives a lighter, more modern look than aluminium. From NOK 600 ex. VAT.

Door sign with interchangeable name field. Practical for offices where employees rotate desks regularly. The name field can be swapped without replacing the whole sign. From NOK 800 ex. VAT.

Need many door signs? We design a unified signage programme where all door signs, meeting room signs and directional signs follow the same design line.

Floor directories and directional signs

In buildings with multiple floors or many tenants, floor directories and directional signs are essential. Without them, visitors end up calling reception or wandering the corridors.

Floor directory. Mounted in the lobby or by the lift. Lists all companies or departments with their corresponding floor. Made in aluminium or acrylic with a modular system so tenants can be added or removed without replacing the entire sign.

Directional signs. Placed at corridor junctions and stairwells. Arrow symbols and text point the way to departments, meeting rooms and common areas.

Room numbering. Consistent numbering of all rooms makes it easier to communicate locations internally and to visitors.

For multi-tenant buildings, it is important that the signage system is flexible. Tenants change, and you do not want to replace the entire floor directory every time. We use modular systems where individual fields can be updated.

Materials for office signs

The choice of material affects appearance, durability and price. Here are the most common options:

Aluminium. The most widely used material for office signs. Light, durable and relatively affordable. Can be powder-coated in any colour or supplied with a brushed finish for an industrial look. Suitable for most office environments.

Acrylic. Gives a clean, modern look. Available clear, frosted or in colours. Popular for reception signs and wherever you want a light, minimalist feel. Holds up well indoors but can scratch if handled carelessly.

Glass. The most premium option. Toughened glass with print or vinyl text gives a luxurious look that suits hotels, law firms and financial environments. More expensive than aluminium and acrylic.

Brushed steel. Stainless steel with a brushed surface. Heavy, solid and very durable. Works well in industrial or modern office environments. Higher price, but stays looking new for many years.

Wood. Adds warmth and character. Oak, walnut or birch with engraved text suits offices with natural interiors, creative agencies and coworking spaces. Can be combined with acrylic or metal for contrast.

Office signage as part of your interior profile

Office signs work best when they are part of a coherent interior profile. When logo, colours and materials carry through into signage, wall graphics, window vinyl and furnishings, it creates a stronger brand experience.

We deliver more than just signs. As a branding agency we can coordinate your office signage with:

  • Wall graphics. Vinyl graphic elements, quotes or brand messages on the office walls.
  • Window vinyl. Frosted vinyl with logo or pattern on glass walls and windows. Provides privacy and brand presence at the same time.
  • Furniture wrapping. Vinyl wrapping of reception desks, partition screens or other surfaces in your brand colours.

The result is an office that looks considered and professional from the moment you step through the door.
