Nordic Steel: three giant illuminated signs for a new building in Bryne

Nordic Steel’s new building in Bryne with a large front-lit façade sign

Challenge

Nordic Steel needed branding that matched the scale of its new building in Bryne. The signs had to be visible from the road and industrial area, work over long distances, and withstand wind loads, heavy weight and installation 12 to 15 metres above ground.

Solution

Show Off handled the municipal sign application, technical calculations, engineering, production and project management. Three front-lit signs were produced as individual aluminium and acrylic letters on U-shaped profiles, then lifted into place by crane truck and installed from access lifts.

Result

Installation went smoothly and was completed. Nordic Steel described the process as seamless and the delivery as expected, while visibility from the road and industrial area exceeded all expectations.

The assignment

Nordicsteel AS needed to brand its new building in Bryne in 2022. The goal was to create strong visibility from both the road and the surrounding industrial area, making the building easy to recognise from a long distance.

The signage had to match the scale of the large industrial building.

The challenge

The delivery consisted of three very large signs:

  • two front-lit signs with a total width of approximately 20 metres each
  • one front-lit sign with a total width of approximately 15 metres

The signs were installed between 12 and 15 metres above ground. Their size, heavy construction and high overall weight placed strict demands on wind-load calculations, fixings, transport and lifting operations.

Installation also required close coordination between the crane truck, installers working from access lifts, the contractor and the building owner. Safety and HSE procedures had to be maintained throughout the work.

The solution

Show Off was responsible for the municipal sign application, technical calculations, engineering, production and project management.

Each sign was built from individual aluminium and acrylic letters. The letters were mounted on U-shaped profiles before installation on the façade.

During installation, the components were lifted by crane truck. Installers in access lifts positioned and secured the structures to the building. The work was closely coordinated with both the contractor and building owner.

The result

Installation went smoothly and the full delivery was completed. Nordic Steel described the process as seamless and the delivery as expected.

The finished building gained a very clear identity. The large illuminated signs made Nordic Steel visible from a long distance, and visibility from the road and industrial area exceeded all expectations.

Why this project matters

Large façade signs require more than scaling up a standard solution. Wind loads, weight, fixings, transport, crane lifts, installation height and HSE must be planned as one complete technical delivery. The Nordic Steel project shows how very large illuminated signs can become a clear and integrated part of an industrial building.
