Renas at ONS 2024: a 100% circular exhibition stand built from pallets

Renas circular exhibition stand at ONS 2024 built from reused pallets

Challenge

Renas wanted an exhibition stand at ONS 2024 that did not just talk about circular economy, but demonstrated it physically. The stand had to be built with materials taken from Norwegian working life, used during the show, and then returned to business use afterwards.

Solution

Show Off delivered design together with Fabel Media, full construction, installation, and logistics. The stand was built from pallets collected from different companies, while the furniture was sourced from Fretex and returned after the event.

Result

The client was extremely pleased, and the stand had steady visitor traffic throughout the event. The project showed how an exhibition stand can be safe, visually strong, and genuinely circular without sustainability becoming just a message on the wall.

The assignment

Renas exhibited at ONS 2024 in Stavanger and wanted a stand that made circular economy tangible. The goal was not to build a normal exhibition stand with a sustainability message. The goal was to make the stand itself a practical example of circular thinking.

The concept was built around reuse. The pallets used in the structure were taken from Norwegian working life, used at the exhibition, and then returned for continued use in business. Furniture was sourced from Fretex and returned after the event.

The challenge

This was a stand where concept, construction, HSE, and logistics had to work together.

The project involved:

  • collecting pallets from different companies
  • sorting and using the pallets in a visually clean way
  • building a structure that was solid and safe inside the exhibition hall
  • meeting ONS and HSE requirements
  • coordinating the return of materials and furniture after the show

When an exhibition stand is built from materials that have already had a life before the event, it requires more planning than a standard stand solution.

The solution

Show Off delivered the project as a complete exhibition stand delivery. The design was developed together with Fabel Media, while Show Off handled construction, installation, and logistics.

The solution combined:

  • reused pallets as the core visual concept
  • furniture from Fretex
  • a solid construction adapted to hall and HSE requirements
  • logistics for collecting and returning materials
  • installation and final handover before opening

The result was a stand that looked different, while still being practical, safe, and clear for visitors.

The result

Renas was extremely pleased with the delivery. The stand attracted a lot of visitors throughout the exhibition and worked as a physical proof point for the message of circular economy.

The key point is that sustainability was not only communicated through text and graphics. The entire stand was built around the same principle: use what already exists, make it safe and attractive, and let the materials continue their life afterwards.

This makes the project a strong example of how an exhibition stand can be a sales area, a meeting place, and a concrete proof of the client's values.
